“The pianist who is shaking up classical music”

Le Figaro

“Simon Ghraichy has fun, he plays around, he’s interested in everything and everything interests him. He’s the opposite of the introverted pianist who’s supposed to have come out of his neurosis thanks to the keyboard. In his case, the keys serve his exuberance, his main trademark”.

François Delétraz, Le Figaro, 2017

“On stage, the virtuoso shakes up the codes of classical music, with his flamboyant style. With hair worthy of a hard rock guitarist and a flashy suit, his touch is electrifying. He stirs the guts of an audience unaccustomed to such emotions (…) With him, a wind of modernity and freshness blows over the ultra-hushed world of classical piano. And takes it off the beaten track”.

Gabriel Libert, Paris Match, 2017

Simon Ghraichy and Marc André

An unusual duo: piano and double bass It all started with a meeting on social networks where the two artists were following each other, then over a coffee. Both cosmopolitan, they share a number of common interests, such as the love of travel and a desire to play unusual repertoires. Marc André is an exceptional double bass player, and Simon Ghraichy has a strong taste for arrangements, so it’s hardly surprising that they decided to adapt some of the great works of the repertoire. Simon and Marc revisit Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Fauré’s Pavane; then, having discovered a shared taste for Hispanic music, the swaying rhythms and colours of Spain and Latin America, they round off their programme with an anthology of Spanish dances by Granados and de Falla and tangos by Piazzolla. The warm welcome they received at their début concert at the Salle Gaveau in March 2024 confirms the genesis of a great duo that is destined to evolve and know no limits.
