Since 2005, Pulcinella has brought together a group of virtuoso soloists and chamber musicians passionate about playing on period instruments and who are members of the most prestigious ensembles, under the direction of Ophélie Gaillard. These musicians carry out in-depth work on sound and articulation, revisiting some of the major pages of the repertoire, and endeavour to unearth previously unpublished or little-known works. The ensemble’s recordings: Vivaldi (2006), Boccherini (2007), Bach Arias (2012) have been praised by the press. Subsequently, two albums devoted to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (2014, 2016), a double Boccherini album with Sandrine Piau and, in 2020, a double Vivaldi album with Lucile Richardot and Delphine Galou were rewarded by the national and international press (Diapason d’Or de l’Année, Choc de Classica, distinctions in Strad, Toccata, Gramophone). In 2021, A night in London was a great success, with over 2 million streams and a BBC Classical Music Awards nomination. In October 2023, we head for Naples with Napoli! recorded with Sandrine Piau, Marina Viotti and Luan Goes. This is a ‘generous programme’ punctuated by ‘delicious previously unreleased material’ (Diapason, December 2023).
The ensemble regularly collaborates with the best singers of the younger generation and performs in the most prestigious venues (Beaune, Tarentaise baroque, Ambronay, Radio France and Montpellier festivals, Les Salons in Geneva, Oude Muziek Utrecht…). Hailed by international critics, Pulcinella also regularly performs in Europe (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, United Kingdom, Ireland) and Latin America. Pulcinella is committed to a policy of bringing baroque and classical music to as many people as possible, particularly in its home territories: the Île-de-France (and more particularly Seine-Saint-Denis) as well as the Haute-Savoie and Greater Geneva. Particular attention is paid to the integration of young professionals, mentored by senior members of the ensemble.
Pulcinella is supported by the DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Île-de-France, the CNM, the Haute-Savoie, Collonges-sous-Salève, SPEDIDAM and ADAMI. Pulcinella is a member of FEVIS and ARVIVA – Arts vivants, arts durables.
