Reed Tetzloff performs Beethoven’s Piano Concertos Nos. 4 and 5 for his first Aparté recording

The young American pianist Reed Tetzloff has chosen Beethoven’s Concertos Nos. 4 and 5 for his first album for Aparté, to be released on 24 May 2024.

For his first recording with Aparté, American pianist Reed Tetzloff offers an intimate and personal interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Concertos Nos. 4 and 5.

Alongside the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Paweł Kapuła , Reed Tetzloff offers gives a fine account of these of these two very expressive compositions.

The drama of the Fourth is heightened to an unprecedented level by the interaction between the orchestra and the piano, while the majesty of the Fifth, ‘The Emperor’, makes the soloist and his instrument the true heroes of the story.

Composed between 1805 and 1809, when Beethoven was gradually losing his hearing and abandoning his performing career, the two concertos bear witness to the master’s transition into his mature period.

“What Shakespeare did in words, Beethoven did through sounds that had never before been imagined. As Beethoven enshrined his own struggles and dreams in his music, he spoke directly to our own. To be able to explore, inhabit, and tell such stories is the privilege of a lifetime.”

In May 2024, the pianist starts a long-awaited Korean tour that will take him to the prestigious Seoul Arts Center.

Played by a brilliant performer, this recording is just the beginning of a complete collection of Beethoven concertos to be released by Aparté.
